POLYMER CLAY TIPS

Fimo and Sculpey Polymer Clays can be mixed or worked together to make further colours providing an endless spectrum of shades and also special effects such as caneworking and marbling.
Polymer Clay is a highly versatile modelling material that is hardened by baking in the home oven. Once baked, polymer clay is permanent and can be cut, sawn, glued, painted or added to. It sets hard enough to make durable objects, and can be finished in various ways to obtain textures from glassy to stonelike.
Give Sculpey III items a high gloss shine by sanding them with 400 and then 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper. Sand under running water. Once finished, polish the your creation with a piece of denim fabric (or use a bench grinder to buff it with a muslin buffing wheel).
Clay that is too stiff can be softened by kneading with polymer clay softener like the Sculpey Clay Softener or Fimo Mix Quick products that we stock. The polymer clay softener is also ideal for smoothing the surface of the polymer clays.
